SQL Database Administrator

JOB DUTIES:
Participate in and performs design, development, implementation, modification, analysis, documentation, testing, and tuning of Microsoft SQL Server databases and DBMS products and tools.

Participates in the creation of physical data models and conceptual data models.

Provides consultation and technical expertise regarding database management systems (DBMS), database management tools, access methods, and vendor-provided database management software.

Assists with and develops physical database designs, performs database options analysis and makes recommendations, and conducts database design reviews.

Manages database security, including integrity, backup, recovery, access, and changes.

Monitors use and optimizes database and DBMS performance.

Interfaces with data analysts and modelers, data administrators, application developers, delivery systems administrators, technical support organizations, computing architects, procurement and supplier management, and product vendors.

Perform duties as required during prime and off hours.

Provide 7x24 development and production support as required.

Participate in Duty Rotations.

JOB SKILLS:
Requires exceptional working knowledge of SQL database technologies and prior experience as a database administration or experience as a programmer or systems analyst.

Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, networking, and security is a must.

Must have strong written and oral English communication skills.

Must have the ability to draft complex documents using technical language required by the job.

Requires the ability to use applicable computing disciplines (change, problem, performance, and operational management; etc.) to ensure that customer database requirements are met in a cost-effective manner that complies with company and regulatory requirements.

Must have strong customer service skills, ability to use tact and diplomacy, and to work effectively within a team.

Must be a self starter and have the ability to work in a fast paced environment.

Position requires off-hours support of 7X24 environments and participation in an off-hour/weekend duty rotation.

Requires ability to deal with others in potentially stressful situations in a courteous, patient, and professional manner.

Requires the highest levels of ethical behavior.

Must have strong analytical skills and effective interpersonal communication.

Must have the ability to plan, prioritize, and organize time to work both productively and efficiently as well as maximize the quantity and quality of work.
