Position Description

Responsibilities include:
- Develop structural and mechanical systems definition of the aircraft by producing the form, fit, and function documentation from conceptual layouts to final detail design
- Engage various engineering, manufacturing, and product support teams to complete designs
- Participate in design reviews
- Interact with suppliers and prepare technical coordination memos
- Prepare engineering reports
- Document, track, and manage design projects of various magnitude using online knowledgebases and tracking tools
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers

Requirements

Qualified candidates will have:
- Minimum 8 years Mechanical Design experience with mechanisms and articulating doors
- Thorough understanding of Auxiliary Mechanisms and Doors as well as Structures design criteria including design loads and durability (fatigue and corrosion)
- Solid understanding of design and manufacturing processes involved for both metallic and composite parts with a focus on design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA)
- Solid understanding of 3D Model Based Definition (3D MBD), and the application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for details and assemblies as well as tolerance stack-up analysis and GD&T as it applies to the Door systems
- Minimum 10,000 hours or 5 years experience on CATIA v5 in Auxiliary Mechanisms and Doors Design, Kinematics workbench proficiency required

Preferred candidates will also have:
- Proficiency in CATIA v5 workbenches: part design (machined parts), sheet metal, Composite Part Design (CPD), FT&A, Knowledge Based Engineering (KBE) tools including use of parameters, design tables, and Visual Basic macros
- Proficiency in SmarTeam PLM database
- Experience with FAA/ODA certification and component testing
- MRB experience with Hydraulics, Landing Gear, and Doors
- Hands-on experience with aircraft production support
- Prior work experience with Company aircraft design
- Experience with knowledge management processes

Bachelors degree in engineering, a related curriculum, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 5 ys in specific technical discipline or 10 yrs broad eng experience in several technical disciplines with Bachelors. Experience credit considered for related adv degrees limited to 2 yrs for Masters, 4 yrs for PhD in fields applicable to this job
