Position Description:
A Manufacturing Fabrication Specialist supporting Emergent Operations Blanket Fabrication. This position will be required to perform work and rework in the manufacture of protective covers, pads, insulation blankets, slings, safety straps for aircraft, production parts/assemblies, and factory transportation. Primary duties include the ability perform or assist proof fitting of insulation blankets, required repairs or retrofits as necessary per released engineering or command media. Must be able to cut material as required using tools of the trade, to include, but not limited to, handsaw, rotary saw, web cutter, scissors, strap cutter or other cutting device/tool. Develop new patterns/templates as required. Candidate must have the ability to operate industrial sewing machines and sergers to manufacture miscellaneous parts (e.g., safety pack holder, mechanic tool pack holder, safety door nets, insulation blankets, and protective covers) for aircraft and production parts. Secondary duties include ability to use math which includes addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, and fractions. Must be able to operate computing equipment with basic knowledge and navigation skills. Have ability to view two (2) and three (3) dimensional drawings while following engineering direction, to include, but not limited to, reading and interpreting digital data. Have strong communication and teaming skills. Ability to operate various types of hand and power tools to include, but not limited to precision measurement tools.
Requirements:
Education / Experience: High school diploma or GED. Previous work experience operating an industrial sewing machine preferred.
