Position Description
Position Purpose:
The IT Infrastructure Architect is responsible for the architectural design and oversight of the central Information Technology enterprise. Researches, designs and implements new leading edge technologies utilizing best practices as well as architectural standards governance in support of the current enterprise infrastructure with the foresight and agility to anticipate future needs of the User Community.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Creates information architectures and designs and configures complex enterprise solutions based on the business requirements.
2. Documents the as-is infrastructure architecture, works within an infrastructure team to then map future requirements to the as-is architecture.
3. Provides thought leadership in crafting the to-be infrastructure architecture. Includes the development of standards and transition plans to bridge current state into desired future state.
4. Ability to diagnose and identify system and infrastructure efficiency improvements or areas for innovation based on current service requirements.
5. Works with IT application architects and enterprise architects to identify infrastructure requirements to satisfy business needs.
6. Confers with infrastructure and project management personnel to obtain information on limitations and capabilities of existing system and capabilities required for projects and projected work load.
7. Conducts technical evaluations and performs cost/benefit analysis.
8. Plans work and projects using project management techniques.
9. Maintains a current knowledge of technology within the infrastructure area and continually evaluates its impact on company objectives and deployed systems.
10. Defines Infrastructure Strategy.
11. Defines Disaster Recovery, High Availability and fault tolerance system requirements to meet the business systems availability requirements.
12. Understands and maintains Security measures and configurations with current standards, practices, & technology.
Additional Functions:
1. Serve as liaison with suppliers.
2. Assists with evaluation and recommendations regarding purchased software packages, hardware platforms and supporting services.
3. Assists with establishment and refinement of technical standards and hardware standards
