Position Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Preliminary and conceptual sizing
• Performs stress and fatigue analysis, approving drawings for structural integrity and compliance to air worthiness regulations (FAR's) and aircraft operational load limits.
• Coordinates with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment.
• Guide product design and verify structural integrity by using and developing analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance.
• Create stress analyses documents as required in formal reports for FAA approval. Review and approve supplier drawings, stress reports and test reports. Plan and support structural tests as required. Coordinates with the design groups, manufacturing, FEM group, test group and damage tolerance group and others as required
• Analysis may include primary airframe structure, secondary airframe structure, systems stress analysis, and fatigue and damage tolerance analysis
• Generate or review formal weight estimates/reports, stress reports, test plans, and finite element models.
• Development of test plans and configurations supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
• Define and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies those requirements are satisfied.
• Supports in-service products by leading investigations into failures and analyzing improvements. Develops analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.
• Work under minimal direction.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
• Must have a strong computer background in relevant areas of expertise
• Able to work with a minimum supervision and have good organizational skills
• Candidate must have structures engineering experience with Large / primary aircraft structures (fuselage, wing, empennage, etc.).
• Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and work in a team environment
• Knowledge of or ability to interpret company and commercial specifications (prior Airbus experience will be beneficial)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering.
• 10+ year’s aircraft structural analysis experience.
• Experience with classical stress analysis techniques, finite element modeling (PATRAN,NASTRAN), Durability and Damage Tolerance (D&DT) Tools, hand calculation methods Experience with MIL-STD-100 drawings
• Candidate must have structures engineering experience with Large / primary aircraft structures (fuselage, wing, empennage, etc.).
• Basic CAD skill
• PC literate in Word and Excel
• Lead and/or Senior experience preferred
