Position Description

Position Purpose:
Assists with the planning, coordination, performance of design, analysis and liaison engineering supporting the development and production of Company products and services

Unique Skills:

Responsibilities involve performing stress analysis and related activities for new and derivative designs of interior furnishings and amenities as part of outfitting new aircraft, along with supporting other Certification related activities. This includes review of Engineering drawings, preparing load calculations and writing stress reports in collaboration with the Structural Engineering group and Structural AR's providing approvals. Example designs include custom cabinetry such as galleys, lavatories, closets and other storage compartments, interior peripheries, water/waste systems, entertainment equipment installations, seating installations. Analysis of installation design is also involved, along with necessary airframe modifications to meet requirements of the interior installation. Candidates should be proficient with finite elements analysis and have a sufficient knowledge of AutoCAD and/or CATIA V5 CAD tools to adequately review Engineering designs. Assignments are executed under the direction of the Engineering Group Head to meet the Engineering, Certification and manufacturing schedules. Analysis methods and design standards to be employed are consistent with company standards and accepted methods. Additional responsibilities are out lined in the job description and as assigned by the Certification Engineering Group Head. Review of new Engineering data in the off board process and preparation of structural substantiation as appropriate. This activity needs to support the Engineering release schedule, so time constraints are involved. Preparation of a Structural Substantiation Report for each Completion aircraft as assigned. Accomplishing aircraft level Finite Element Modeling and Processing (FEMAP) and other forms of analysis such as decompression analysis, grouping analysis, etc. Attending up front meetings and review of the design packages to highlight and resolve any potential issues in the proposed design that relate to structural substantiation. Participation in cross site standardization efforts and helping to resolve differences while preventing new ones Working together with the structural engineers and structures ODA Engineering Authorized Representatives (EAR's) to support the project deliverables and schedule for Engineering and Certification activities.

Experience/Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, a related curriculum, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
- See Other Requirements in Job Description. 5 years in the specific technical discipline or 10 years broad engineering experience in several technical disciplines with Bachelors, or 3 years in the specific technical discipline with Masters, or 1 yr in the specific technical discipline with PhD.

5) Works under limited supervision; work should only be required to be reviewed for accuracy and consistency with meeting overall objectives
6) Acts as liaison with representatives outside of the assigned group/area

Additional Functions:
1) Actively works to improve daily processes and ensures all work meets customer requirements
2) Maintains a current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields in order to recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of company product
3) Performs other duties as assigned

Other Requirements:
1) Advanced degree in engineering related field preferred
2) The level of technical skill and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline
