Overview

We have an opening for a Senior Engineer. The Senior Engineer will work with internal and external teams to identify and execute projects to deliver Life Cycle Management goals for a new business segment.

The Senior Engineer will look both at re-application of ideas from our system as well as working with external resources such as design agencies, consultants, suppliers, and manufacturers. The scope of a typical project will include idea generation, business case development, proof of concept, technical development, pilot and trial activities.

The candidate will have demonstrated the ability to successfully drive design improvements to mechanical equipment and systems by leading project work and building excellent working relationships across functional areas within a business unit.

The Senior Engineer will effectively communicate Program deliverables, Risks, Schedules and Budgets to inform the Business Leadership of critical decisions to be made.
65 % Execute project plans for equipment including managing through the processes of: Stage Gate Change Control, Tooling, Manufacturing, and Market support.
15 % Identify opportunities to improve Life Cycle costs of equipment through analysis of current state. Prioritize these opportunities against needs for the business for quality, cost, production rate, and emerging developments.
10 % Communicate status of work to appropriate parties in order to keep them informed and involved.
10 % Ensure continuous personal development of industry knowledge and trends through supplier evaluation and qualification visits, on the job training, development partner coordination, and relevant training opportunities.


Job Requirements
Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Candidates with Bachelors of Electrical, Chemical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering may be considered with relevant work experience.

Preferred Education: Master’s Degree in Engineering or Business

Related Work Experience: 7+ years in related mechanical design field, with strong knowledge of plastics molding, and supplier capability/quality is required. Solid knowledge of GD&T via ASME Y14.5M is required. Knowledge of regulatory in any the areas of NSF, UL, ETL, or FCC is a plus. Working knowledge of ProE is helpful, though this is not a CAD position.

Technical Skills

Engineering Skills: Knowledge of mechanical design based on ASME Y14.5; Sheet Metal Forming, Joining and Welding; Supplier Capability Analysis; FEA, ProE design; Reliability and Stress testing; Root Cause Analysis; Plastics Molding and Forming.

Quality Management: Upstream supplier capability analysis and qualification; Cpk; Deviation and Waiver processes; Corrective Action Reports.

Complex problem-solving: The ability to identify technical performance gaps, use data mining and analytical tools to characterize the business impact and identify root causes, and use engineering skills and tools to develop and implement solutions to complex problems with significant impact to performance or customers.

Asset Improvement: The ability to use engineering principles to troubleshoot dispensing equipment, dispensing systems, control systems and installation/maintenance issues in an efficient and effective manner.
