Overview

JOB DUTIES: (a) Continuing Education Advisor and Resource Developer: Identifies resources and provides virtual part-time, virtual advising to managers and employees interested in university-based, continuing education. Conducts internet research locating education advising content. Creates advising tutorials and modifies internal tools such as the Continuing Education Advising Toolkit to strengthen advising resources. Develops tips, tools and resources to promote advising skills. Collects and coordinates information from colleges to support strategic skill development strategies.

(b) Advising Skill Development: Investigates methods for continuous learning and assists managers and employees in applying learning strategies to individual development plans. Consults with management and employees on university-based continuing education opportunities by analyzing needs and providing coaching and mentoring on plans. Studies and communicates content from certificates and degree programs provided by Preferred School Partners applicable to the education learning needs of employees and the Company.

JOB SKILLS: Subject matter expert on continuing education advising and career planning utilizing college-based education programs. Experienced academic advisor and counselor, using internet-based tools and resources for development of continuing education opportunities aligned with career interests. Demonstrated knowledge and experience using career development and counseling products including assessment instruments such as Strong Campbell Interest Inventory, DISC, Myers Briggs. Skilled in college and university internet research for researching programs at colleges and universities on the Preferred School Partners list. Problem Solving: performs work with minimal direction and exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment. Serves as subject matter expert to management and special external spokesperson for the Learning Together Program. Proven interpersonal and relationship building skills. Strong communication skills including verbal and written. Experienced in project planning and project management with demonstrated success leading projects to completion.

Typical Educ/Exper: Bachelor's degree and typically 8 or more years' related advising and counseling work in a college or university environment (minimum, Junior College level experience) or a Master's degree and typically 5 or more years' related advising experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

*1st preference is to have candidate work in Puget Sound (department open to work locations within PS). However, if you have a strong candidate that is located in SoCal or STL the department is open to changing the location from PS to either SoCal or PS.
12+ months — possible extension and possible FTE opportunity.
