Overview

Please note this is a part-time position, approx. 24-32 hours per week.

JOB DUTIES: Position is for a Specifications and Parts Engineer to support Obsolescence Management activities. Required to develop obsolescence management plans to meet contractual requirements. Proactively monitors industry for emerging obsolescence of parts, materials and processes, and evaluates parts lists and associated databases to assess and mitigate impact. Identifies innovative approaches for resolution options. Coordinates with internal/external customers, suppliers and affected programs. Performs trade studies to determine the optimal resolution. Supports internal or external working groups to discuss issues and problems. Develops and coordinates critical testing activities. Knowledge of industry obsolescence prediction tools and management systems. Works under minimal supervision. Analyzes industry and government notifications (GIDEP, FAA notices, Internal Company Alerts, etc.) and determines potential safety and reliability impact. Assesses the input, develops, recommends and implements corrective action as necessary for safety and reliability purposes. Coordinates with other sites concerning discrepant parts, materials, and processes and releases applicable notification to industry or customers. Represents Company at industry based working groups. Develops and maintains technical requirements related to electrical/electronic parts, materials and processes in order to provide customers with current, state-of-the art, and cost effective technology.

JOB SKILLS: Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
8+ months — possible extension and possible FTE opportunity.
