Per manager: focus is looking for Thermo Engineer
Monitor and direct engine supplier performance activities, and as necessary conduct analysis of propulsion/aircraft integration issues for mid/large cabin size business jet aircraft. Includes support of existing product line and any emerging new products in this class. Develop requirements, product plans, technical review and analysis, to address integration or integration issues of the engine/nacelle to the aircraft. Provide engine manufacturer oversight of engine performance levels. Responsibilibties - Engineering Analysis – Conduct analyses and review of analysis that support all aspects of performance integration of the engine into a nacelle, and the engine/nacelle to the airframe. - Contacts – Establish working relationship with FAA/EASA and Engine manufacturers. - Technology – Maintain good working knowledge of developments in analysis and certification activities in the propulsion field. - Reporting – Provide technical findings to both Flight Sciences & Project Management. Format can be presentation, reports, memos, etc… - Integration – Effectively define requirements and evaluate compliance of the engine and engine/nacelle to ensure integration to the airframe meets aircraft level requirements / specifications. - Support of interfacing with engine/nacelle supplier to derive supporting data to feed aircraft performance, acoustics and loads issues. - Support of powerplant designers requiring engine performance related information to support design efforts - Support of Flight Test and Engine manufacturer Engine Development Programs for developing requirements for development and certification testing, including ability to analyze engine test data. - Ability to define engine and nacelle performance requirements to suppliers (engine, thrust reverser, inlets…), to ensure powerplant meets airframe specifications and certification requirements. - Support development of engine ratings and engine control systems. - Support interface of engine to ECS system. - Define, document, and analysis of In-flight thrust and fuel consumption methods. - Working knowledge with APU’s an advantage Job performance metrics - Aircraft performance levels dependant upon the engine have been attained without need for mitigating actions. - Effective relationships have been established, evidenced by realistic and supporting product plans, open and documented communication. - Is current in his field of expertise - Presents technical data, and project information in a non-confusing, thorough and conclusive manner. - Is able to effectively communicate with affected/interfacing technical disciplines, and provides clear direction to engine suppliers and internal customers. Education/Experience - BS Mech or Aerospace, MS preferred. - Minimum 10 years with the majority in the area of performance, with a good mix of engine and engine/nacelle. - Candidate must have some direct years of experience/familiarity with propulsion/airframe integration. - FAR 25, FAR 33 certification experience preferred
Bachelors degree in engineering, a related curriculum, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. See Other Requirements in Job Description. 10 yrs in the specific technical discipline or 15 yrs broad engineering experience in several technical disciplines with Bachelors, or 8 yrs in the specific technical discipline with Masters, or 6 yrs in the specific technical discipline with PhD.
