Work with customer subject matter experts (SMEs) to identify key training needs and objectives for emergent web-based training projects.
Recommend learning delivery strategies based on required outcomes for the training need (WBT, job aid, blended training, etc.)
Prepare detailed statement of work that documents the deliverables, learning objectives, measurement tools, budget, learning strategy and activities required, and schedule.
Follow an instructional systems design (ISD) model to design stand-alone training or modules/lessons within a course.
Perform a training front-end analysis/needs assessment
Perform a job/task analysis
Write criterion-referenced learning objectives.
Using Bloom’s Taxonomy as a reference, create valid and reliable test questions for each criterion-referenced objective in a course.
Create storyboards for WBT using PowerPoint.
Coordinate storyboard reviews with customers.
Create graphics for WBT using Photoshop, Visio or Fireworks
Assemble WBT courses using the ForceTen LCMS.
Determine the most appropriate reusable learning object (RLO) in the ForceTen LCMS to assemble each page in a web-based training course.
Upload courses to all environments within the ForceTen LMS.
Follow detailed test plans to functionally test new and updated WBT courses in the ForceTen LCMS.
BPN (Boeing Provider Network) Courses
Follow a detailed job aid to convert an existing LCMS WBT course for delivery via the BPN Network.
Use knowledge of ForceTen LCMS RLOs to adapt a BPN version of a course for delivery via the BPN.
Arrange for testing of courses that have been converted for delivery via the BPN network.
Course Uploads
Upon request, upload new or revised WBT courses into specified environments in the ForceTen LMS.
Follow a detailed testing plan to test courses in the MyLearning environment.
Update a course upload history form.
Break Fixes
Troubleshoot problems with ForceTen LCMS courses and determine the most efficient way to fix the problem.
Requires an extensive knowledge of ForceTen RLOs.
Audio Recording
Work with customer and narrator to read through a script and recommend changes for both readability and comprehension.
Direct voice-over talent during an audio recording session.
Perform the duties of an audio engineer during an audio recording session.
Requires experience working with digital audio recording software, professional microphones and microphone mixers.
Consulting
Work with customers and less experienced developers as a mentor for instructional systems design issues and test writing.
Work with neophyte videographers and editors to teach them the basic skills needed to tell a story with motion video
Other Competencies
Master’s Degree in Education or ISD, and five years experience is preferred (I am a strong believer in the 10,000 hour rule to master a skill, and ISD is a graduate-level program)
Documented writing skills
Knowledge of the fundamentals of visual literacy (color, line weight, balance, etc.)
Background in photography or other visual medium
Working knowledge of Company factory operations (helpful but not required)
