Overview

Job Description:
The Industrial Cost Engineer performs professional level accounting work in the maintenance and review of fiscal records.

The position requires considerable knowledge of basic accounting principles and accounting functions.

This individual is responsible for the general ledger, job cost, bank reconciliations and accounts payable.

Additional responsibilities include performing monthly closings, maintenance of accounting files, and preparation/organization of various financial forms, reports and financial analyses, etc.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for evaluating actual versus budget for labor, materials and other costs

Evaluation of change orders

Lead weekly meeting on cost performance with executive management

Acts as facilitator with program controls and EVMS personnel

Handle and process all aspects of construction payables, including coding, processing contract award work sheets and maintenance of the job cost chart of accounts.

Manage or develop, monitor, and analyze project expenditures, forecasts, and schedules.

Develop/analyze project Work Breakdown Structures for use in estimates and schedules estimating data to appropriate estimating application software and analyze results.

Process contractor payment applications for monthly billings.
Assist in the preparation of Joint Venture, Lender and company financial reporting requirements.

Perform monthly close and related journal entries.

Monthly review of job cost activity ensuring consistent and proper coding

Monitor fixed asset activity in detail. Generate month-end depreciation and amortization entries.

Plan, direct and coordinate manufacturing processes in industrial plant.

Review existing data to see if more research and information needs to be collected.

Significant travel will be required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
BS from an accredited 4 year college or university with a major in the field of accounting or other related field or related discipline.

Minimum five years work in power generation field.

Be able to read and analyze engineering documents and project plans

Broad knowledge in construction methods, practices, schedules, logistics and budgets.

Ability to work extended work schedules as required supporting the project execution plans and schedules.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and relationships.

U.S. citizenship or U.S permanent resident status required.

A valid drivers' license issued by state of residence and in good standing is required.

May be required to pass security clearance investigation.

COMPETENCIES:
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position.

Strong technical (mechanical/electrical) and organizational skills.

Must have considerable knowledge with basic accounting principles (i.e. journal entries, debits, credits, etc.) and accounting functions. Job cost and construction experience will be key for this position.

Ability to work independently and complete duties and projects with little direct supervision.

Ability to accurately work under pressure in meeting deadlines.

Excellent communication (verbal, written) and interpersonal skills.

Capable of functioning independently and undertake various technical and supervisory roles when required.

Provide outstanding customer service, to external and internal customers.

Able to multi-task.

Excellent project management skills.

Recognizes need for confidentiality and securing of sensitive information
