Position Description:

The Company Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Systems Engineering Integration & Test team (SEIT) is seeking a Experience Systems Engineering Lead for the U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier Based Autonomous MQ-25 program.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent communication skills, able to plan, design, schedule, and verify a balanced System Safety life-cycle solution. Candidates are expected to work at a dynamic fast pace while serving as the primary System Safety interface to defense industry customers, internal partners, and senior leadership teams.

Position Responsibilities:
o Candidates shall lead, coach, and develop the System Safety design team and peers for the next generation of talent.
o Lead the development and execution of a system safety program based on MIL-STD-882E. Tasks include development and continuous improvement of the Hazard Tracking System and the System Safety Working Group Charter, System Safety Management Plan, and System Safety Program Plan.
o Applies extensive knowledge of aircraft systems and sub-systems (e.g., airframes, propulsion, flight controls, fire protection, hydraulics, electrical, environmental, fuel, lighting, landing/arresting gear and brakes, avionics mission and vehicle management system, Com/NAV, support equipment and command and control systems).
o Lead in the development and execution of software Level of Rigger (LOR) task development and perform software safety analysis utilizing software criticality indices per MIL-STD-882E.
o Lead engineering meetings and program reviews, including Gate Reviews, Integrated Product Teams, Working Groups, Configuration Control and Safety Review Boards, and/or Milestone Reviews. Tasks can include safety approval or endorsement of Engineering Change Proposals, Change Notices, Notice of Escapes, Mishap Reports, and/or Requests for Deviation/Waiver.
o Lead Safety Review Board flight determinations for Notice of Escapes, fleet impact assessments, line stock checks, and other non-conformances.
o Assess system risks to personnel, equipment or environment. Tasks include Preliminary Hazard List, Preliminary Hazard Analysis, System Requirements Hazard Analysis, Subsystem Hazard Analysis, System Hazard Analysis, Operational and Support Hazard Analysis, Health Hazard Analysis, Functional Hazard Analysis, and Fault Tree Analysis.
o Evaluates customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
o Leads, develops, maintains and identifies improvements in the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessments.
o Candidates should be familiar with Earned Value Management (EVM) metrics to achieve life-cycle cost and performance expectations that satisfy contractual requirements and Company first time quality obligations.
o Candidates must collaborate one on one, and in group settings such as sub-system engineering design teams, sub-tier supplier coordination events, and be comfortable presenting before executive leadership teams.
Requirements:


Qualifications (Desired Skills & Experience):
o 5 years or more of experience implementing Department of Defense system safety standards MIL STD 882E
o Experience leading or managing projects and/or teams
o Master's degree and course work in statistics/safety engineering
o Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
o Military experience

Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+8 years' related work experience, Master+8 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
