Stress Engineer - Fatigue and Damage Tolerance

Position Description:

Duties:
• Create and develop structural engineering substantiation reports that will be used to certify repair and modification data.
• Generate formal engineering substantiation reports using both classical (hand calculations) and mathematical software which support certification of aircraft structural modifications and repairs.
• Analyze and check structural engineering data produced by the engineering group to ensure that it meets the requirements for FAA certification.
• Research and review engineering data (drawings, reports, manuals, etc.) defining aircraft structure or systems to determine the most efficient method of modification or alternation
• Develop Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using FEA tools (Nastran/Patran) which supports the design and certification of aircraft structural modifications. Develop linear and non-linear finite element models as required.
• Perform fatigue and damage tolerance analysis (DTA).
• Perform STC modifications substantiations and stress analysis
• Being a CATIA user
• Coordinate with Designated Engineering Representatives for approval of engineering data.
• Develop preliminary analysis necessary to determine a practical aircraft structure repair approach

Research and review engineering drawings, engineering orders, and related technical data defining aircraft modifications and determine their effect on aircraft technical publications such as the ICA, FMS, CMM, SB, SRM, IPC, and Task Cards.
Requirements:


Experience:
• Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Engineer with minimum 10 years of experience
• AIRBUS aircraft TD and STC development is highly desired
• Boeing aircraft STC development is desired
• Fatigue testing: minimum 5 years of experience and involvement in a full scale aircraft testing
• Fatigue testing: experience minimum 5 years of experience and involvement in a details and parts testing
• Fatigue reports and substantiation experience minimum 10 years of experience. Major STC and TD development.
• Damage Tolerance: minimum 10 years of experience in substantiation, testing, material properties development.
• Damage Tolerance: minimum 5 years of experience with AFGROW, NASGRO, use of FEM for K, energy release method, and crack growth development.
• Review engineering design for damage and fatigue tolerances to ensure that it meets the requirements for FAA certification.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in certification and compliance to 25.571, Part 27, 29, and residual strength development.
