Position Description:

Perform test of aircraft components and systems according to Engineering specifications
Reformat test data per Engineering requirements
Assist with collection of spectral analysis data concerning the evaluation of potential runways for suitability of flight-testing
Troubleshoot and assist with configuring airborne data acquisition system including hardware and software components
Install and perform close tolerance calibrations of specialized instrumentation, for example, sound vibration equipment, microphones, accelerometers, and strain gauges
Coordinate with Engineering in troubleshooting experimental electronics or electrical-mechanical instrumentation components
Conduct functional tests of experimental electronics or electrical-mechanical instrumentation components
Construct, troubleshoot, and test prototype components, analog and digital electronics, and assemblies and provide design recommendations
Design and maintain calibration database and generate recall reports
Perform close tolerance calibrations, troubleshooting, and repair of general purpose test equipment, for example, oscilloscopes, frequency counters, and signal generators
Perform close tolerance calibrations, troubleshooting, and repair of specialized instrumentation, for example, pressure, force loads, static/dynamic acceleration rate, temperature/humidity, and liquid and pneumatic flow
Develop and document calibration procedures for test and measurement equipment
Perform data entry for calibration database and generate recall reports
Provide on-site/off-site operations support for mobile and fixed telemetry systems
Perform digital and film photography, for example, film development, digital editing, format/digital conversion, reproduction, and archiving to document flight-testing activities of aircraft
Maintain inventory and control of lab equipment, supplies, and explosives
Assist in development of curriculum, interactive CDs, and testing apparatuses in support of Flight Test training, for example, electrical, mechanical, and safety
Perform conditioning, maintenance, and repair of aircraft batteries including inventory, control, and documentation in support of experimental aircraft
Assist in performing test set-up, functional check, troubleshooting, and data acquisition for aircraft structural static and fatigue testing
Assist in fabrication, assembly, troubleshooting, repair and modifications of aircraft simulator test rigs in support of software/hardware verification
Train other employees in the performance of their duties as required
Perform on-site/off-site preventative maintenance and repair of mobile and fixed telemetry systems, for example, tracking antennae and controllers, telemetry receivers, and intercom/VHF communications equipment
Assist with creation, training, presentation, and documentary interactive CDs in support of Flight Test operations and Organizational Development
Provide recommendations for equipment acquisition
Perform test set-up, functional check, troubleshooting, and data acquisition for aircraft structural static and fatigue testing
Fabricate, assemble, repair and modify aircraft simulator test rigs in support of software/hardware verification
Provide software/hardware support for customized computer equipment and applications within Flight Test, for example, reduced vertical separation minima (RVSM), weather station and monitoring, digital audio control, automated calibration system, and various relational databases

*Possibility for on-call availability on any day and/or at any time of day*

Requirements:

Instrumentation data acquisition technology
Fundamental aircraft knowledge
ability to read wiring schematics

You have typically 5 years of experience performing electronic and electro-mechanical testing and troubleshooting OR performing installation and calibration of test equipment and instrumentation
You have the ability to create wire schematics and document procedures
You have basic knowledge of software/hardware components and multiple platforms necessary to build, configure, and repair computer systems
You have working knowledge of electronics operating and troubleshooting principles and concepts
You have working knowledge of closed loop control systems, for example, command and feedback
You have working knowledge of calibration methodology and metrology standards and equipment
You have working knowledge of physics and application concerning acceleration, force, pressure, temperature, and humidity
You have thorough knowledge of electronic test and measurement equipment
You possess the necessary computer skills to operate word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, web-based, photo-editing, and AutoCad applications
You have strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers
You have verbal and written communication skills
You have working knowledge of data acquisition instrumentation systems and components, for example, transducers, sensors, power supplies, and signal conditioning
You have working knowledge of strain gauge theory and installation procedures preferred
You have working knowledge of electro-mechanical operating and troubleshooting principles and concepts preferred
You have working knowledge of a programming language and design concepts, for example, Visual Basic, C++, and LabView preferred
You have previous experience with RF OR video editing OR computer programming preferred
