Position Description:

The Synthetic Environments integrated product team (IPT) in the Training Systems and Government Services Capability Center is seeking a software engineer to develop and maintain enemy forces simulations in order to develop Apache helicopter weapons systems proficiency. Simulations include ground moving vehicles, ground moving personnel, and airborne craft that engage the manned cockpit simulator in realistic combat simulation. The two threat simulations supported by this IPT are the company modified version of the US Army OneSAF Threat Simulation Software Program and the company implementation of the commercial CAE Interactive Tactical Environment Management System (ITEMS) Threat Simulation Software Program. The two threat simulations are currently fielded on various US Army and International Apache Aircrew Training Systems.

Assists with the development, documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems. Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system. Assists with test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met. Supports software project management and software supplier management functions. Selects, tailors and deploys processes and tools; establishes metrics. Performs software research and trade studies. Troubleshoots software issues. Works under general supervision.
Requirements:


Bachelor's Degree Required.

Applicant needs knowledge in or ability to quickly master the following systems and tools: Java Programming; C++ Programming; Basic or Advanced use of Linux OS Command line syntax (editing, moving, copying files); Installing/Running computer applications on PC platforms; Compiling/Debugging in Linux; Use of Git Configuration Management and VersionOne Tools; Experience with DIS Network Communication Protocols; Experience with any Threat Simulation Software (OneSAF, ITEMS, VBS2, etc.) is a plus.
