POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Directs and oversees research and development (R&D) projects and other major or time critical projects. These include new helicopter or component designs or major modifications to a helicopter design or major component. This person coordinates manpower and resources for the project, both Engineering and Production including design, test, and certification. He/She is also responsible for coordinating outside resources such as consultants or contract design groups, including developing and/or reviewing statements of work (SOW), and requests for quotations (RFQ), and soliciting quotations.
This person will also participate in the following:
Review and evaluate product requests, and formulate conceptual designs to meet requirements.
Analyze project proposals to determine feasibility, produce-ability, cost, and production time.
Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following;
- Preparation of technical publications
- Writing proposals
REQUIREMENTS:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The candidate should possess the following:
- Degree in Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering with 3 years experience or an Engineering Degree (Bachelors or higher) with 4 years experience in aerospace.
- Experience in Project Management
- Basic or advanced understanding of rotorcraft structure, dynamics, and aerodynamics.
- Knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, and methods.
- Ability to organize and track complex projects.
- Basic or advanced computer skills.
- Problem solving skills.
- Ability to work with people.
The following are desirable:
- Basic understanding of sheet metal, welding, machining, and fiberglass manufacturing and assembly procedures.
- Experience in CAD: Solidworks or Catia preferred, other systems may be acceptable.
12+ months — possible extension and possible FTE opportunity.
