Position

Overview

****You will be required to purchase three uniforms at an estimated total price of $150-$265. The cost will vary depending on your size and the amount will be deducted from your paycheck in two installments. Safety boots are required.**

Position Purpose:
In a team oriented environment, performs all tasks in area of responsibility in a timely and efficient manner to ensure aircraft parts, sub-assemblies, major assemblies, and installations are built to type design data.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
1) Performs inspection duties utilizing engineering drawings and orders, route cards, inspection travelers, technical specifications, QA procedures and instructions and other related documents.

2) Performs conformity/first article inspections to ensure compliance with FAA approved procedures.

3) Performs area inspections to ensure compliance with applicable standards and specifications.

4) Ensures the proper use and storage of area tools and equipment.

Additional Functions:
1) Works with and instructs subordinate inspectors in techniques of inspection functions and other related duties applicable to the area.

2) Provides technical support to manufacturing personnel.

3) Coordinates inspection workload according to priorities, efficiency and cost effectiveness.

4) Performs other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:
1) Competent in the use of all job related tools and equipment.

2) Proficient in blueprint reading and interpretation and shop mathematics and Quality Control Procedures.

3) Must possess very good analytical and practical troubleshooting skills.

4) Strong oral and written skills required.

5) Works as part of a team to ensure company and department goals related to safety, quality, schedule and costs are met.

Unique Skills:
1. Extensive hands-on experience working in aerospace non-conformance initiation, processing, and closure data systems. 2. Extensive hands-on experience with sheet metal fabrication and 5 years of inspection processing preferred. 3. Working knowledge of CATIA (v5 preferred). 4. Able to quickly develop the necessary skills for inspecting structural assemblies for conformance to 3D (CATIA) model definition requirements 5. General ability to retrieve, read, and interpret fabrication and assembly job planning documents. 6. General ability to retrieve, read, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. 7. Knowledge of basic aircraft assembly, including basic familiarity with major structural assemblies. 8. General knowledge of aircraft inspection techniques and processes, and inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gages). 9. Experience with Microsoft-based office applications (e.g., Word, Access, Excel). 10. Knowledge of Microsoft Visual Basic and/or VB Script programming languages desirable

Experience/Education:
- High School diploma/GED.
- Completion of formal inspection training program within 90 days of assignment.Two (2) years technically related inspection experience.
- Four (4) years technically related experience.
- Two (2) years manufacturing experience or equivalent aerospace experience preferred.

REQUIREMENTS:

12+ months — possible extension and possible FTE opportunity.
