Position Description:
***Must have nesting experience preferably in SigmaNest but any similar software. Steel structures, navy ships, plate work are all a plus.***
SUMMARY
Plan, nest, draw from prints, process quotes, coordinate job orders in order to meet customer demands.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operates computer-aided design (CAD) system, nesting program (Sigmanest), and peripheral equipment to create electronic data for CNC machinery and Lead Operators to process job orders. Maintain production drawings of Company’s customers and layouts assemblies systems to meet customer expectations for quality, cost, design and delivery by performing the following duties. Other duties as assigned.
- Develop designs, nesting, 3D layouts utilizing preferred software.
- Generate production changes to electronic data (flash sticks), released drawings and estimate production timeline for each process.
- Communicate with customers and vendors to ensure that designed product can be made from specified materials and will meet customer needs.
- Review job orders and procedural manuals to determine critical dimensions of design and ensure tolerances are defined by the customer.
- Calculates figures to convert design dimensions to resizing dimensions specified for subsequent production processes.
- Confers with Sales and Production Scheduler to determine design modifications and enters editing information into computer.
- Supports Management Team meetings.
- Cost job and reviews with management before releasing the customers quote.
- Suggest alterations or modifications of design to obtain specified functional and operational performance.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Minimum one year of nesting experience, prefers two years. Sigmanest or ProNest or Cadman software is a preferred plus.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to have a good understanding of CAD system and the capabilities to quickly learn Company’s preferred software. Minimum of two years of experience.
- Minimum of two years of Design experience, which preferably includes the following: Inventor or SolidWorks a plus
- Must have a thorough knowledge of metric system and descriptive geometry
- Must have working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
- Must be able to read blue prints
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree from a two-year college or university preferably in Engineering; and/or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
TRAVEL
Ability to travel out of state for training as needed
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Requires analytical knowledge; ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and enforce an extensive variety of legal and regulatory publications.
