The main function of Air Vehicle Provisioning is to define support hardware requirements. This is done using MIL-STD-1388-2B, now GEIA-STD-0007, criteria. Provisioning supports the establishment of SM&R (Source, Maintenance and Recoverability) codes by pulling together information from the task analysis and drawings. This information is used to identify the SM&R code for each part that fits the specific customer's support plan and guidance. The configuration of the Air Vehicle is constantly evolving and the drawings are updated, then reviewed for part identification to support the value chain activities. This activity supports spares procurement and Illustrated parts breakdown (IPB) for the technical publications. The provisioning team also maintains the database to reflect what parts are effective on each Air Vehicle.
