As a member of the Patent Bar, performs domestic and foreign patent prosecution in cooperation with outside counsel, in the development and management of global patent portfolio. Directs and approves key decisions regarding patent opposition, foreign filing country selection, termination of prosecution, appeals and pruning of the global patent portfolio. Coordinates procurement of company patents. Reviews and revises the work of outside legal counsel to procure patents. Oversees new patent preparation and prosecution work with outside counsel. Participates in development of strategic patent portfolios. Makes quality and value decisions on continuing prosecution, scope of claims and decisions regarding overall adequacy and appropriateness of available protection. Provides guidance to the team on awareness of current IP protection developments. Participates in development of strategic patent portfolios.
Education / Experience: USPTO bar registration required.
Occassional travel may be required.
9+ months — possible extension and possible FTE opportunity.
