Job Duties:
The Certified Safety Specialist will assist by monitoring and advising on all aspects of regulatory compliance and due diligence in the areas of process, workplace safety, and risk control.
Participate in safety tours and inspections with Front Line Supervision
Attend and support Front Line Supervision conducting safety meetings
Conduct internal and long term contractor audits
Support the site through: safety reporting, safety communications, hazard assessments, incident investigations, and ensuring compliance of standards, policies, and procedures
Conduct weekly safety site inspections and critical task observations
Provide support for the maintenance and compliance of:
o Incident tracking system and remedial action tracking system
o Safety reporting
o Employee workforce count/hours
o Safety communications, documentation, policies, procedures and Hazard Assessment documentation
o Attend and present at safety meetings
o Targeted health/safety and compliance objectives
o Incident investigations
o Participate in HAZOPS and Model Reviews
The completion of a Pre-contract Risk Assessment for each new contract
Complete training as identified as per training requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Typically 5+ years of industry experience with completion of high school diploma
Completion of Occupational Health & Safety Diploma and one of the following completed certificates: National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)
