Works from preliminary design drawings, sketches, and oral and written instructions requiring interpretation of the most appropriate method to meet laboratory and production requirements. Determines methods and sequence of operations to lay out, assemble, troubleshoot, perform manufacturing operations for space vehicle electromechanical devices, subsystems, systems and airframes for unit installation
Fabricates, assembles, installs, aligns and troubleshoots lightweight, fragile spacecraft assemblies, subsystems, systems and elements using special methods in consideration of the stress critical nature of the vehicle. Exercises technical judgment in the substitution of parts and materials. Determines methods, fabricates, and assembles inspection and adjustment fixtures and gauges needed to meet spacecraft requirements.
Assists engineers and research assistants in determining improved procedures and performs specific duties at assigned test stations.
May provide assistance to personnel in lower related job classifications.
Uses hand and power tools and equipment, as necessary, to perform above duties.
May be required to work on high structures such as scaffolding and gantry cranes at launch sites.
Performs rework of the same nature and level of difficulty as described.
Performs incidental related duties as assigned or required.
