Position Description:

Note: You will be required to purchase three uniforms at an estimated total price of $150-$265. The cost will vary depending on your size and the amount will be deducted from your paycheck in two installments. Safety boots required.

Under minimum supervision, fabricates, installs, calibrates, validates, and maintains data acquisition systems in support of Flight Test engineering data collection for aircraft certification and product improvements.
Performs a variety of duties with minimal assistance in the electronic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical fields in Flight Test. Duties include installation, checkout, calibrations, validations, maintenance, and operation of instrumentation and data acquisition systems in support of flight and ground testing for research, development, and certification of Company aircraft.

Essential Functions:
1. Fabricates and installs electrical harnesses and instrumentation components per flight test engineering via drawings with minimal direction.
2. Performs checkouts, calibrations, and validations of instrumentation installations.
3. Maintains data acquisition system equipment and wiring.
4. Operates test equipment for data acquisition. Performs data system preflight test procedures.
5. Troubleshoots and repairs all aircraft instrumentation systems and their respective components pertaining to acquisition signal conditioners, recorders, video equipment, telemetry systems and associated wiring.

Additional Functions:
1. Maintains daily logs and other paperwork as required to include aircraft maintenance forms & records.
2. Provides technical assistance in other areas of Flight Test as required.
3. Maintain good housekeeping in all areas to include instrumentation shop, hangars, break area and office.
4. Attend department safety meetings and demonstrate safe work practice.
5. Trains and assists entry level instrumentation technicians within job scope.
6. Perform other duties as required.

Unique Skills:
- Ability to work independently from engineering and aircraft drawings, aircraft wiring diagrams and vendor equipment technical data, and to interpret work orders and manufacturing procedures
- Must possess knowledge of basic hand tools of the trade, be proficient in use and capable of instructing others in the use of related tools and equipment and ESD concepts
- Thorough, advanced knowledge and understanding of flight test instrumentation is highly desirable, especially, telemetry systems, video recorders, accelerometers, strain gages, pressure transducers, thermocouple/thermal sensors, deflection gages, nose boom sensors, flow systems sensors, and position transducers.
- MicroMeasurement strain gage formal training desired.
- Basic knowledge of aircraft electrical, communication and navigation systems.
- Thorough knowledge of PC based operating systems and common software applications.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Associate degree in electronics engineering technology, a related curriculum or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Two yrs in the specific technical discipline or 4 yrs broad experience in several technical disciplines with Associates degree, or 4 yrs in the specific technical discipline or 6 yrs broad experience in several technical disciplines.
